Abstract
The article focuses on the scientific and legal aspects of strengthening the role of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in the system of international relations. It examines the features of the legal nature of the SCO as an intergovernmental organization, its significance for ensuring international legal order and security, as well as its influence and development prospects amid current challenges such as terrorism, transnational crime, and global stability threats. The analysis includes both foreign and domestic research, highlighting the legal foundations of membership, the organization's activities, and its potential as a subject of international law. It also emphasizes the necessity to improve the international legal framework of the SCO in a rapidly changing global environment
