The article is devoted to identifying the role of the Pecheneg ethnic confederation in the ethnogenesis of the Karakalpak people. The study examines current historical perspectives on the Pechenegs, noting that modern historiography often treats them merely as a "transient" ethnic group that rapidly migrated across the Eurasian steppes. The author points out that the history of the Pechenegs in the Syr Darya and Amu Darya basins, as well as their history prior to this period, has often been overlooked by historians
